The PMI Manitoba Chapter's success and growth is attributed to the committed volunteers and leaders that have invested their time giving back to the profession by building and sustaining the chapter.

PMI Manitoba is led by Board volunteers and run by volunteers to provide the valuable services to members to advance the project management profession in Manitoba.

How to Volunteer

Follow the below instructions to apply to volunteer for PMI Manitoba.  

How to Apply to Existing Volunteer Opportunities

  1. Go to https://vrms.pmi.org/ and login using your PMI credentials.
    1. If you are not a PMI member or do not have a PMI account, you can create one at https://www.pmi.org/account-registrationNote: Membership is not required to create an account, however you will be required to be a PMI Manitoba Chapter Member to get notifications of local volunteer opportunities.
  2. If needed, update your volunteer profile information by clicking on “View and Update Volunteer Profile”.
  3. Select "Find Opportunity". Select “Manitoba Chapter” in the search criteria for local opportunities.
  4. If there are any opportunities of your interest, select the volunteer opportunity.
  5. Apply for the volunteer opportunity selected and follow the hiring process.

How to Apply to Future Opportunities

If there is no current volunteer opportunities or none that match your interest, update your Volunteer Profile to receive notifications and being considered for future opportunities.

  2. Update your volunteer profile information by clicking on “View and Update Volunteer Profile”.
  3. Ensure you select the "Areas of Interest" that match your volunteer aspirations. These will be used as criteria for future notifications.
  4. You will receive a notification once a new volunteer opportunity that matches your interest is posted.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer in IT

This committee publishes the Chapter newsletter, coordinates ongoing website maintenance, maintains online registrations system for events and provides communication resources and IT infrastructure to other portfolios. 

Volunteer in Marketing

This committee is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the Marketing Plan, Marketing Sponsorship & Advertising Package, developing and coordinating external publicity programs to publicize and promote the Chapter, PMI and their various activities across a broad spectrum of the local population; and ordering and maintenance of PMI promotional material. They also create content and publish in our social media platforms. 

Volunteer in Membership

This committee is responsible for the continued growth of the PMI Manitoba membership through recruitment and by retaining members. Membership committee maintains an active membership database, identifies membership opportunities, provides membership application kits, responds to request for PMI information to potential member, and provides registration support at the monthly Chapter luncheons. 

Volunteer in Professional Development

This committee is responsible for all training, education and professional development provided by PMI Manitoba. The portfolio includes:

    • PMP/CAPM Information and Study Group - responsible for providing information sessions, assistance in setting up PMP and CAPM study groups, mentoring and guidance in PMP application preparation.
    • Professional Development - responsible for delivering the two annual Project Management Conferences (Elevate Conference in the Spring and Reignite Conference in the Fall).

Volunteer in Programs (Monthly Programs and Networking Events)

This committee is responsible for planning and implementing the monthly chapter meetings, networking opportunities, and other events. This group arranges speakers, facilities, prizes, attendance, registration, speaker gifts, door prizes, MC, and event communications. 

Volunteer in Operations (Finance and Governance)

This committee is responsible for financial operations and administration of the chapter. This includes budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivables, by-law and policy development, operating guidelines and procedures, fullfilling legal requirements, etc.
