December Virtual Chapter Event: "The Power of Teams and Teamwork to deliver exceptional results"
As Project and Program Managers, we are ‘schooled’ on the technical aspects of the profession, and senior stakeholders will look at project size and delivery experience when making hiring decisions. At times the leadership aspect of our profession can get overshadowed, especially the criticality of developing an environment where teams can not only form but optimally perform.
The Thai Cave Rescue narrative is an amazing testament to what a team can accomplish when empowered and supported.
There are many key takeaways from the story...
Learning objectives:
- The importance of fighting to maximize the subject matter expertise you acquire in building the team;
- The importance of breaking down cultural and political barriers to allow the team to work together;
- The criticality of aligned team goals, purpose and objectives;
- Team members accepting what their assigned role on the team is and then focusing on the execution of that role and assignment;
- How to overcome governance structures which can inadvertently work against the team’s ability to perform. And when a group of x-function talented, x-functional SMEs actually work together as a team, the amazing results team synergies can deliver, both in the development of extraordinary solutions and also delivering extraordinary outcomes.
