Celebrating Excellence Across Manitoba: Introducing the 2026 Project of the Year Finalists

The journey to discover project excellence across Manitoba Manitoba’s most impactful project achievements has reached a historic milestone. In the first year of PMI Manitoba's refreshed Project of the Year (POY) Awards program, we received an incredible 20 project submissions, the largest turnout in the program's three-decade history.

Out of this exceptional pool of nominees spanning public, private, and non-profit sectors, our panel of industry-diverse volunteer judges completed a rigorous review process using standardized scoring rubrics. Today, we are thrilled to officially introduce our standout project finalists across three distinct award categories:

Community Impact Award Finalists

  1. Code Camp 2025 — Exchange Technology Services 
  2. A Night of Discovery: CNI Students Explore the Manitoba Museum — RRC Polytech

Innovation in Project Delivery Award Finalists

  1. Sustainable Precast at the Princess Auto Flagship — Amrize Canada
  2. Benefits Management Solution — Government of Manitoba
  3. Electronic Patient Record and eChart Manitoba Upgrade and Cloud Migration — Shared Health-Soins Communs

Project Leadership Excellence Award Finalists

  1. The MB3 Program's Story of Leadership, Integration, and Impact — Assiniboine Credit Union
  2. Electronic Patient Record and eChart Manitoba Upgrade and Cloud Migration — Shared Health-Soins Communs

Authentic Stories Over High Production: Watch the Showcases: Behind every successful project is a story of overcoming complex challenges, pioneering innovative solutions, and leading teams with vision and integrity. To showcase these remarkable achievements, we are officially launching the 2026 POY Finalist Video Showcase on the official PMI Manitoba YouTube channel and chapter website

The refreshed 2026 POY model was is intentionally redesigned to be accessible, inclusive, and low-barrier. Finalists were not expected to create a polished or high-production video, they Rather than glossy, high-budget corporate commercials, our finalists were asked to submit short, authentic presentations (under 10 minutes)—similar to a recorded webinar or virtual meeting. 

Across these three categories, viewers will get to explore *seven (7) unique finalist videos in the People's Choice Award lineup.

*As Shared Health-Soins Communs submitted one comprehensive video representing their dual-category nominated project.

When watching these showcases, viewers will see that authenticity, project story, and real impact matter far more than video editing or production value. You will get an insider’s look at: 

  • The Journey & Success: The real-world story behind how each project moved from initiative to delivery. 
  • Key Lessons Learned: Critical reflections and practical insights that other project professionals can apply to their own work. 
  • The True Impact: The measurable outcomes and benefits delivered to organizations, local industries, and Manitoba communities. 

 


 

What Happens Next: People's Choice Voting & Gala Celebration

The publication of these videos kicks off the final, member-driven chapter of our 2026 awards cycle: 

  • People's Choice Award Voting (August 17–31, 2026): All project finalists are automatically eligible for the People's Choice Award. Active PMI Manitoba Chapter Members are invited to watch the finalist videos in our video library on our webpage and vote online for their favorite project starting August 17. Chapter members who participate also will earn 2 PDUs for taking part in the review and voting processmaking an informed vote! 
  • The 2026 POY Awards Gala (September 16, 2026): Category winners and the People's Choice Award winner will be announced live during our annual gala celebration at the Wyndham Garden Winnipeg Airport. Tickets are open to the public, offering local business leaders, changemakers, and teams a prime opportunity to connect.
