Any student in a Canadian University degree granting program (Commerce, Law, Science…etc) qualifies for the student PMI membership rate.
Specific to the Project Management programs in Manitoba:
- The Red River College certificate program does qualify for the student PMI membership rate.
- The University of Winnipeg full-time Project Management Diploma program does qualify for the student PMI membership rate. The University of Winnipeg Masters Certificate in Project Management part-time programdoes not qualify.
Please note: Occasionally, students enrolled in the Project Management Programs in Manitoba who are attempting to register for a student membership run into a temporary road-block with PMI Global. Students who have applied online and are audited may be advised by PMI Global that the Red River College certificate program and UofW fulltime diploma program do not qualify for the student rate. This degree vs. certificate terminology from USA to Canada sometimes causes confusion at the PMI Global level & this issue comes up from time to time. Should this happen:
- Red River College students should print their student membership application and regular mail it to PMI Global along with a letter from Amanda Simpson, the Red River College Program Officer. To obtain this letter, please contact Amanda Simpson. Alternatively, should a student decide to apply from the onset via regular mail rather than online, by incorporating the letter from Amanda Simpson into their membership application, they will not have any issues should their application be audited.
- The University of Winnipeg full-time Project Management Diploma Program includes a student membership in PMI Global and the Manitoba Chapter. The University of Winnipeg manages the activation process for these student memberships. For further information about the membership activation process, please contact Mekala Wickramasinghe, the Program Administrator.
To join the Manitoba chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI), you must first be a member of PMI. To learn more about the global Project Management Institute, visit the website at www.pmi.org. To learn specifically about the benefits and types of PMI memberships, or to sign up as a member, click here.
When going through the steps of purchasing a PMI membership, you will be directed to choose a chapter where you can select the Manitoba chapter. All membership payments are payable to PMI, not to PMI Manitoba. You can pay with your credit card via the secure site. Please note the fees are in US dollars and GST is added. Many employers will reimburse the cost of membership in professional organizations, so be sure to ask your employer about this.
If you are already a member of PMI, but not a member of the Manitoba chapter, click here to purchase a Manitoba chapter membership from PMI for the annual cost of $37.50.
Thank you for your interest, and we hope to see you at our next chapter event.
If you have any additional questions about the process, please email the Membership Director who will be happy to assist you further.
