December 2018 Chapter Meeting: MVP development - From vague product to project deliverables

December 2018 Chapter Meeting: MVP development - From vague product to project deliverables

About the topic being presented

The journey a product takes from being an idea in someone’s mind to being released into the market is one of the most challenging to forecast or describe as each product will take a different path to that goal.

In many cases, those are getting the same title a “new product name” Project, and in many cases are being treated as regular projects with the same success criteria of meeting the original schedule and planned budget. Many questions are usually only partially answered when those projects start, like who is market, what are the exact problems the product is expected to solve, how to monetize the product and what should be considered for effective marketing channels.

The uncertainty is usually translated into vague requirements that leave too much room for interpretations and classic requirements collection, often ending up with more questions than answers.

I will focus on explaining the problems new products are facing, why some of the classic methods tend to fail in delivery, and what criteria are important for successful MVP projects.
