The Workforce Management Project was set in 2019 to implement a system to modernize staff scheduling, develop consistent processes and clearly define staffing requirements at healthcare facilities in Winnipeg and Churchill. Over two years the project implemented a new solution and centralized the system across all in-scope hospitals while overcoming obstacles associated with the Covid19 pandemic. More than 18000 employees now use the system, which reduces administrative burden on front-line care managers and allows for a better response to sick time and other staffing gaps as well as better management of overtime, particularly for employees that work at multiple sites. The system became key tool for pandemic response strategies in the province.
